Artist Statement

With this satirical short film, I wanted to raise awareness about the current pretrial justice system through the historical context of language used by those in positions of power.

This piece addresses how language has been used divisively to marginalize Black and brown communities on the macro and micro level — and explores what change might look like in a world that chooses to use language differently.

Biography

Dayton-based comedian Dionté Allen has been honing his skills in comedy over the past three years. Dionté has blended his talent for humor, communication, and creative writing by bringing about the perfect threesome of his passions. A ménage à trois if you will.
